Marmol Radziner

I first discovered Marmol Radziner when I was doing some research on PreFab homes a few years back but I haven't really thought about them in a while until I spotted one of their other airy homes on Remodelista. The first home is the the prefab home and the second is the home spotted on Remodelista, both equally open and fabulous. I love the built-ins and wood in the Vienna Way house and the outdoor room/ fireplace in the Glencoe home and those floor to ceiling windows, wowzers!

Looking for inspiration

As the weekend approaches (and the tipi party) I am finding myself a bit under the gun, sometimes my best ideas come from that nerve-racking feeling but I always need to take a moment and find inspiration and most importantly make a list. I have to admit this list is one of many and most likely not the last one before Sunday but it helps to calm me and keeps me on track. In the meantime here are some lovely items that are keeping me inspired......

Balancing Barn

via MVRDV

Here is another longhouse I covet but this one defeats the laws of gravity. The entry of the long metal "barn" is at ground level but as you walk toward the other end of the home you suddenly find yourself atop the trees. I imagine it'd be like living in a luxurious tree house. I think my boys would not only love living in a tree house but they would also dig that swing underneath, I would love being able to relax on the sofa while keeping an eye on them through the glass floor in the living room. However we would need to add a zip line to make it the ultimate "tree house"!

Modern Quilts

Luke Haynes via ManMade

Sorry for the very late post but you understand, right? I just had to share these amazing quilts my hubby spotted yesterday. He knows I love quilts, the process of making a quilt as well as the nostalgia that embraces quilting but he also knows I have a hard time finding ones that aren't over done and "girly-fied". These quilts however are something I would love to have resting on my bed or my wall! Luke Haynes is a local fiber artist that meticulously hand crafts each "manly" quilt. Not many dudes would admit to sewing or quilting so my crush for today is not only his quilts but I'm crushing on you too Mr. Luke Haynes!
